I am always going to be a Trekkie, but I just cannot make my mind about this show. If you can put aside all the liberties they are taking, it is decent. Otherwise, do not bother. It will make you mad. Btw, like I mentioned, the Mirror Universe stories were actually decent and interesting enough so maybe once in a while there may be some good stuff.

Capt Pike though, I was initially interested but the more I think about it, the less I get. Learning more about him would be great but seriously, not on board the Discovery. He needed to stay on Enterprise. They also inferred that the Enterprise already completed its first 5 year mission since they were away during the entire Klingon War...not really sure how to handle that one. LOL

The doctor and one of the main scientists..or is he an engineer..I cannot even tell LOL, are a gay male couple. ***SPOILER ALERT*** they did kill off the doctor though about half way through the season. The last few episodes were actually decent dealing with the Mirror Universe.

I also watched Season 2, Ep.1 and the introduction of Capt. Pike may help...but pretty much no Spock in the episode. I am guessing he will be in the second or maybe third. I am not so sure of the story line though. It is nothing that makes me want to see more. I guess I am just hanging in in the hope a good story will emerge.

Wishful thinking but I guess once a Trekkie always a Trekkie.

After reading about the cast, the crew, and the characters, I didn't even bother with it. Their motives for reinventing the Klingons and comparing them to real-world political ideologies was extremely insulting. It was clear that they had limited knowledge about the previous shows. Just really ignorant people.

A while back I had my own idea for a new Star Trek series. It would take place after Enterprise, during the Earth-Romulan war. Imagine a Tom Clancy type story in the world of Star Trek. The focus would be on Section 31, the Tal-Shiar, and MACO. Each episode would focus on one of these three groups, eventually with all three of them converging somehow in the climax of the series. Maybe an interactive website that reveal clues about the future of the series in the form of Starfleet Intelligence reports, troop/ship movements, and planetary politics on both sides.

They mess up all of my favorite shows with that sin, another one bits the dust.

If all Christians would just unite to embargo shows that include this kind of content they'd likely quit adding it in. Surely there's still enough of us in America to make an impact in their ratings.

I havent seen it yet. I've watched 3 episodes now. Episode 3 was actually decent. Maybe a good sign?

I saw all 3 episodes it was not too bad the 3rd was the best of the group. I love syfy not a hardcore star trek but still love watching star trek in or out of the mode of course to a point (minus the worldly stuff). It seems ok to me. Plan to still watch it.

The technology gaps are killing me though. It is supposed to be in TOS timeline, not the Kelvin. While the communicator and phaser (to a degree) are similiar to TOS, that is about it. Yet they seem to have better technology in a time that is before Kirk and crew. But I agree, Star Trek is Star Trek. Trekkies gotta go with the flow! lol

Just watched the third episode. The family has been watching it every week. I grew up with Voyager, and in my opinion, this new series doesn't hold a candle to it. But I love star trek, so I'm enjoying new content nonetheless

I only watch Star Trek the Next Generation reruns, all other spinoffs were junk in my opinion.
I really enjoyed Voyager, but TNG will always be my favorite. It's also worth going through the original, but it's definitely aged. I liked it though. As for discovery, the first episode was interesting, but alas was the only one available on tv. Been wondering if it's worth the subscription.
