Most external HDDs are connected by USB, and steam library can install to an external drive. There really aren't any cons other than you have to make sure its plugged in and on, SATA III is faster than USB 2.0 but USB 3.0 is faster than SATA III

do you not have any more room to throw in some internal hard drives? most towers have multiple slots, or are you on a laptop? i have two internal hard drives myself.

I have a terabyte hard drive but with games these days that filled up fast.
I have two external drives. I am not sure if you can runs Steam from a external drive or games?
