You will be happier with the PC build but the laptop is mobile. Your choice.

The thing about a laptop is the best graphics card you can really use is a gtx 980m, which is worse than a gtx 960. With a pc, you can get at least a 960 and upgrade it later, and even can use sli. Also, laptops won't run cpu/gpu intensive games for long due to overheating, while a pc can be air or liquid cooled. That plus an i7 7700k processor is pretty cheap (around 300 and it just came out January 2017) and at the moment the best gaming processor for your money! Can't put that in a laptop.
On the flip side, I've been using a gaming laptop for the last several years and it's been working great! As star citizen and similar games become more demanding, my laptop won't last long though... It is nice that it is portable though.
Your choice though!

I stand corrected! That cpu will be a bottleneck though. I wish I could have had a 1080 haha

That's much cheaper than a laptop and you can put the remainder towards your children's college fund.
