re: "New" (to me) Gaming Rig!

Well, I've assembled my new gaming rig -- which, technically isn't "new" per se, but Jao's old motherboard/CPU/RAM set, but hey, it's new to me! -- and paired with my new video card (see my other thread about the GeForce RTX 2060), is finally running my single-player ARK smoothly! Got the game all patched up, got the latest video driver, and jumped in and played for a solid half an hour with not a single crash. Looks like that jump to 16Gb of RAM did the trick.
So, next test is to try it with the main DX-12 features (dynamic tesselation and ambient occlusion) enabled. But for now, I'm delighted and greatly relieved. Good ol' "Betty" has a new life ahead of her!
Also, I'm hoping to give it a test spin in Star Citizen.

Sweet, congrats! Glad ark is running good - yay to no crashes - and it sounds like a lot of other games will have better performance too.

Yup! I did some belly-crawling in The Hunter: Call of the Wild this evening. All settings on Ultra, and it ran smooth as silk. Got several other games ready to roll too: For Honor, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Mechwarrior Online. I'm also looking ahead to seeing how it does with Star Citizen.

Glad it made it through the postal system without being damaged. That system is rock solid. It should have a lot of years left in it.

So far, it's running great! And I've been monitoring internal temperatures using that app you suggested. So far, CPU temps under full game load have been topping out around 53 Celsius/127 Fahrenheit, and the GPU at 73c/163f.

That's what Jao called it. Not sure if it was an actual name of a joke while I was chatting with him on BIOS settings.
