SWTOR -- Asteen: Arse - teen (The American English word for arse, btw) I also do not have a legacy/last name for him. ||| Asteen used to be a character I played in a Chatroom-based Star Wars RP. He was a Blue Skinned Jedi Master on the Jedi Council.

GW2 -- Logan Sijen: Low-gan Seye-jhen ..... I like the name Logan and Sijen is from a name generator.

Xbox Name: Kay-jun Hustla ... I live in South Louisiana, so Kjun is after my Cajun Heritage. And no real reason for Hustla.

re: The "How do you pronounce your name?" thread

haha, Most people say my username Kingspain which is Kingspian.
(King-Spee-an)

Some people did ask me how I got this username. Ever heard of Chronicles of Narnia: Caspian?

I figured after i saw the 2nd movie made me think that Caspian was going to be the King of Narnia. So I thought of these names:

King Caspian? no.
Caspian? No, someone may have that name already.
Kaspian? No, Kingspian? Yes.

So *shrugs, took a little time. lol

Well my character is named Lyndisty. I think its pretty simple. Although some might think its Line-disty, but no it is Lynn-Dist-E. As for my forum name it is pronounced just like Talon, it is not pronounced tay-len

re: The "How do you pronounce your name?" thread

I really don't know how to pronounce my name. Also, my name has nothing to do with Star Wars (but I noticed a few other people's didn't either). I just figured I'd give the background of my name.

Adino
2 Samuel 23:8
These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

Abishai
2 Samuel 23:18
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

Micaiah
1 Kings 22
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.

Micaiah goes on to not give the King the same good news as the other prophets but declares an evil ending for the King. The King refuses to accept Micaiah's prophecy having him cast in prison while he listens to the more pleasing claims of the other prophets. Micaiah, having spoken as the Lord willed had given the true prophecy. I think Micaiah and the King are great reflections on the modern Church. We are quick to accept into our midst self-proclaimed prophets who speak of great things for ourselves and our church while condemning anyone who comes into our midst pointing out our sin and warning of God's anger toward the sin we choose to live in. I think Micaiah is a good reminder of the importance to listen for the truth rather than what we want to hear and to speak the truth rather than what others want to hear.

re: The "How do you pronounce your name?" thread

Alright, this could get technical and I might need help with the very nuances as it has been a bit since I created these names.

Barinath: BAR-en-ath
The origin is straight from Beren of Tolkien's work. The intent is to take the original "Beren" and put my spin on it with a westron/sindarin slang on it.

Atalon: AH-tah-lon
The origin is it is a name I found on a name generator and one that I liked. It means "fallen" in andunic and is usually the name I give to any warriors I play.

Alin: Al- (as in Alfonse or Aladdin) in
This one I picked up from Wow's name generator and I liked it. I use it for my roguish characters and tends to be the class I generally go with.

Bari: Barry
This is usually what my internet handle falls to. It is short, easy to remember, and when I started my paladin, was how people addressed me thereafter.

Xavian: Zay-vi-an
This is one of the last names I use. It has an elvish sound with a slight twist to it. When I saw the name in Wow, I took it for my rogue and twisted it to a Dalaran mage surname and it stuck.

Chyarr: Chshee-arrr
This is a weird one. I made this one for a jedi style character a long time ago. It has a very Star Wars sound and is one of my favorite. The best way to pronounce it is just about like "Shi-ar" from the Marvel universe, except you toss in a ch sound over and with the sh.

That should be it, so for The Repop, expect Barinath Chyarr to return to twist up the tongues of people! Happy

Cormedan: CORE-meh-din

Origin: Way way back in my EQ days (1999) I needed a name for a character and I wanted it to reflect my R/L name in some manner. On some long forgotten linguistic website someone had developed a psuedo-Tolkienesque language for names and I used elements of this language in the formation of my character name. The name Cormedan is actually derived from two words, Corm and Edan. Corm means "Heart" (similar root to the Spanish "Corazon") and Edan means "Man" (similar to the Sindarin terms for Men (Edain) and Man (Adan) of Beleriand. Thus Cormedan = "HeartMan".

My R/L last name? Hartmann.

2 Corinthians 5:21. "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." All people are sinners by nature and by action. All people are sinners from birth. All people are born alienated from God who is Holy, cannot look upon sin, cannot fellowship with sinners. That alienation because of sin prevents us from knowing God. He is too perfectly Holy to have anything to do with sinners, except to reject them. Now the result of that rejection, the result of that alienation in time is Godlessness. The result of it in eternity is hell. So this alienation in to which every human being is born is indeed a serious issue. It means that everybody lives their life without God and if they die in that condition, will spend their eternity without God in torment.

re: The "How do you pronounce your name?" thread

ok, many are having trouble with my name, haven't seen this thread until now. But I will take mercy on you all and help you out....

Its "Ap-Poe-ap-sis": "ap" as in apple, "poe" as in edgar allen poe, "ap" as in apple, and "sis" as in sister.

If anyone's curious, its the term for the highest point in an orbit around a celestial body.

No rudeness or unkindness was intended by this post, just trying to assist with pronunciation.

and btw, feel free to simply call me "Apsis" (Ap-sis).
P.S. Sorry for necroing the thread :D
