re: God of the Hills Alone?

Well said! I never really like playing a bad guy (i.e. Lord of the Rings Conquest, Rise of Sauron). I also learned in Youth Group that you are what you listen to (music), and you are what you do. If you listen to only secular music, you'll sooner or later be secular. It's happened in the past: A spcific man used to be a Catholic boy. His first C.D. was AC/DC. Today, He is probably the most demonic person on the face of the Earth. True story.

Thanks for bumping this one. I am relatively new to the guild and I might have missed it otherwise.

Thanks Gabe for stating things so clearly. Especially in an RPG, our characters often are extensions of ourselves, and as such we need to act in a manner that is pleasing to God, even if it is just a game. In the same way, you would not cheat playing a board game or something else with a friend or family member.

What a great reminder!

re: hard to bring this to the pvp table

Just saying : I have slain players by the thousands in pvp, in every game from wow, aion, rift, lol, swtor,Gw2,

( not saying im gewd or anything, but ask anyone who ever needed to grind for pvp gear )

And the bible clearly says God hates violence and murder.

There is no possible way of advancing in pvp ranks and gear if you dont do this.

There is no way to protect your server's castles and buffs in
Wvw in gw2 if you are not prepared to Kill hundreds of players every day.

Its brutal. But thats what i like about mmo pvp. Players are so much harder to fight than mobs, and thats what makes every victory sweet and every defeat a loss.

In real life i am Uber anti violence. I have never, and will never bully or fight anyone , unless my wife or my own life was threatened.

So in a way, every one of us who play mmos kill thousands of mobs and players every month.

In chat i always try to be friendly and all but if you come to my PVP map , you better be prepared to fight Hard.

Im saying, : my real life and mmo life are completely seperated in the way that i would act.

Marmite :\

WHAAAT? You can separate fantasy from reality? WHOA! You must be some kind of mutant or something!!

I am always far more concerned about how a player plays than what she plays!

In TOR, I have often found more integrity, honor and cooperation on the Sith side than the Republic one.

In my short stint in WOW, I was playing a Dwarven Hunter and (being a newbie) I managed to find my way to the Barrens. A pack of raptors got after me and my pet died and I was running for my life when an undead warlock (of way higher level) not only saved me from the raptors, but escorted me back to the border and waved bye to me as he road off!

I have also had L50 "LS" Jedi gank my lowbie sith toons and grief other players.

It is not what you play nearly so much as who you are when you play that really matters.

Actions speak louder that Assumptions.

re: God of the Hills Alone?

Well said Gabe, I know this is a old post but i wanted to reply. I have always tried to play this way and never be the "bad guy". I even have a Sith that I play the light side, and Horde I play them cause there is not all evil Horde, some have honor bound agreements to hold to but have good intentions. This is best way to play , and i have gone into conversation with some people on games about their behavior in game. that how can they keep from acting like they do in game, in the real world. The choices you make , no matter what it is, is whats in your heart. The bible even says "out of the abundance of the heart your mouth speaks.." Matt 12:34b

re: God of the Hills Alone?

Wow, incredible post and I agree with it completely. I must admit, that unlike everyone else here so far...I have my evil moments in mmo's. I'm not a pvp'r but if I see someone is afk and low enough for me to kill I do it...mainly because I hate pvp with a passion and I know pretty much everyone in pvp's is out to gank lowbies...I guess it's my way of getting some justice...LOL

99% of the time I am sacrificing to a fault in mmo's. I give away important gear I have on, make stuff for people even though I'm too poor to really afford to, spend hours helping someone when I'm desperate to find someone to help me with someone...but I have my days where I'm just down and depressed and looking for lowbie areas to just steal pve kills from lowbies.

I always feel guilty about it afterwards and I know I shouldn't do that to people.

The Bible says that we ought to do unto others as we would have them to do unto us. I don't like it when people do that to me, so I shouldn't be doing it to them. This thread is a great reminder of that.
