re: Inspirational Stories

I heard a story about a train traveling through the night in a very violent rainstorm.

The lightning flashes were almost blinding, the rain hitting the windows was deafening and the strong gusty winds rocked the train from side to side. When the lightning flashed and lit up the darkness, the passengers could see the rising water along the tracks. This created terror in the minds of the passengers.

Several passengers noted that through all the noise, lightning and wind, one of the passengers, a little girl, seemed to be at perfect peace. The adult passengers couldn't figure out why the little girl was so calm during all this excitement.

Finally, one passenger asked her, "How is that you can be so calm when all the rest of us are so worried about what might or could happen?" The little passenger smiled and said, "My father is the engineer."

End of story.

That's the beauty of knowing that our God is in control everything.

re: Inspirational Stories

Here's another one I really liked:

It's a story of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri, who was deeply immersed in meditation during a church service, and he failed to kneel at the appropriate moment. Some hurried to the bishop and demanded that Dante be punished for his sacrilege. Dante defended himself by saying...

"If those who accuse me had had their eyes and minds on God, as I had, they too would have failed to notice events around them, and they most certainly would not have noticed what I was doing."

End of story.

Are your eyes and mind on God?

We're in the age of distraction. There more things now that gets our attention and it's harder to stay focused. With technology, we now have email, Internet, chat, mobile phones, facebook, etc. All these compete for your attention and eats up some of your time.

God is ALWAYS looking forward to talk to you with all your attention is on Him. So don't let the busyness of this world control your life.

re: Inspirational Stories

The other day my 4-year old son and I were sitting in the couch and watching his favorite cartoon show. For some reason I was reminded of the scriptures that talks about Child-like faith. My curiosity leads me to ask my unsuspecting boy..."Son, if we build our own house, how many swimming pools do you wanna have?"

Without hesitation, he said "Dad, I want 3 swimming pools. One for you, one for mom and one for me." If you ask an adult the same question you'll probably hear: "What are you talking about? You can't even afford to have a bath tub." Funny but true.

Children are like fearless creatures. They trust so much in their parents that all things will work out. Adults on the other hand can have fears, reservations, and little faith. No wonder why Christ wants us to have child like faith to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

re: Inspirational Stories

A boy told his father, "Dad, if three frogs were sitting on a limb that hung over a pool, and one frog decided to jump off into the pool, how many frogs would be left on the limb?"

The dad replied, "Two."

"No," the son replied. "There's three frogs and one decides to jump, how many are left?"

The dad said, "Oh, I get it, if one decides to jump, the others would too. So there are none left."

The boy said, "No dad, the answer is three. The frog only DECIDED to jump."

Great inspiration and great resolutions, but often times we only decide, and months later...we are still on the same limb of do-nothing.

I'm sure you've heard the verse that says..."Faith without action is dead." It's so true.

re: Inspirational Stories

The scripture tells us that without vision, people perish.

If you don't have a dream or vision for your life, you're not really going to reach your fullest potential. Maybe at one time you had a dream, but you went through some disappointments or setbacks. Things didn't turn out the way you planned.

But here's a key: when one dream dies, dream another dream. Just because it didn't work out the way you had it planned doesn't mean that God doesn't have another plan.

You cannot allow one disappointment or even a series of disappointments to convince you that your dream is over.

Remember His promises and meditate His words daily.

re: Inspirational Stories

My pleasure Jariel.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Before refrigerators, people used ice houses to preserve their food. Ice houses had thick walls, no windows, and a tightly fitted door. In winter, when streams and lakes were frozen, large blocks of ice were cut, hauled to the ice houses, and covered with sawdust. Often the ice would last well into the summer.

One man lost a valuable watch while working in an ice house. He searched diligently for it, carefully raking through the sawdust, but didn't find it. His fellow workers also looked, but their efforts, too, proved futile. A small boy who heard about the fruitless search slipped into the ice house during the noon hour and soon emerged with the watch.

Amazed, the men asked him how he found it. "I closed the door," the boy replied, "laid down in the sawdust, and kept very still. Soon I heard the watch ticking."

Often the question is not whether God is speaking, but whether we are being still enough, and quiet enough, to hear.

re: Inspirational Stories

"In the summer of 1876, grasshoppers nearly destroyed the crops in Minnesota. So in the spring of 1877, farmers were worried. They believed that the dreadful plague would once again visit them and again destroy the rich wheat crop, bringing ruin to thousands of people.

The situation was so serious that Governor John S. Pillsbury proclaimed April 26 as a day of prayer and fasting He urged every man, woman and child to ask God to prevent the terrible scourge.

On that April day all schools, shops, stores and offices were closed. There was a reverent, quite hush over all the state. The next day dawned bright and clear. Temperature soared to what they ordinary were in midsummer, which was very unusual for April.

Minnesotans were devastated as they discovered billions of grasshopper larvae wiggling to life. For 3 days the unusual heat persisted, and the larvae hatched. It appeared that it wouldn't be long before they started feeding and destroying the wheat crop. On the fourth day, however the temperature suddenly dropped, and that night frost, covered the entire state.

Result - it killed every one of those creeping, crawling pests as surely as if poison or fire had been used, It went down in the history of Minnesota as the day God answered the prayers of the people."

God does indeed answer prayers, just not always in ways we expect or understand

re: Inspirational Stories

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealers showroom, and knowing that his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. But before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father has carefully underlined a verse, Matthew 7:11, "And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"

As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealers name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words....PAID IN FULL.

How many times have we missed God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Today, just be grateful. You may not be in the best situation in life but remain grateful and trust God that He's in control.

re: Inspirational Stories

There was a man who got lost in the desert. After wandering around for a long time his throat became very dry, about that time he saw a little shack in the distance.

He made his way over to the shack and found a water pump with a small jug of water and a note. The note read: "pour all the water into the top of the pump to prime it, if you do this you will get all the water you need".

Now the man had a choice to make, if he trusted the note and poured the water in and it worked he would have all the water he needed. If it didn't work he would still be thirsty and he might die. Or he could choose to drink the water in the jug and get immediate satisfaction, but it might not be enough and he still might die.

After thinking about it the man decided to risk it. He poured the entire jug into the pump and began to work the handle, at first nothing happened and he got a little scared but he kept going and water started coming out. So much water came out he drank all he wanted, took a shower, and filled all the containers he could find.

Because he was willing to give up momentary satisfaction, he got all the water he needed. Now the note also said: "after you have finished, please refill the jug for the next traveller." The man refilled the jug and added to the note: " Please prime the pump, believe me it works"!

We have the same choice to make, do we hold on to what we have because we don't believe there are better things in store for us, and settle for immediate satisfaction? Or do we trust God and give up all that we have to get what God has promised us? I think the choice is obvious.

We need to pour in all the water, trust God with everything.

re: Inspirational Stories

We are strong believers of our faith in God and his son Jesus Christ. But the thing to remember is that just because we are believers does not necessarily exempt us from trouble or, even more so, life's difficulties.

Obstacles in life are a necessity. If we do not face hardships time and time again, there is no room for us to grow and become stronger versions of ourselves. We become stagnant, and that is surely not what God has planned for us. The Holy Bible says, "The rain falls on the just and the unjust."

It's very clear in the Holy Bible that God only has good things in store for us, but also we need to brave through life's difficulties and obstacles in order to reap His favor and heavenly rewards. Instead of depressing over your problem, look to God.
