re: A World in Flux (GW2 RP)

(This is a open RP, everyone is welcome to join in at any time)

Setting----
5 Elder Dragons have risen from the depths of the world and brought death and destruction in their wake. Many of the races have been displaced due to war with either the dragons or each other. But not all hope is lost. In the multiracial capitol of the world, Lions Arch, a man by the name of Jao Thaun has introduced a new God to all the races “The one True God” and has distributed a book attributed to this God all though out the world. While many openly stand opposed to this new God in favor of their traditional gods and try to hinder its progress of its spread; still more and more followers join each day. Those who have come to this faith call themselves The Saints.....

re: A World in Flux (GW2 RP)

Charr….we have been deceived for so long, been abused as the playthings of “gods” for as long as our history has been recorded. First came the humans, driving us from our homes and our land under the banner of their xenophobic “gods” and tasked to cleanse the land of our impurity. We were slaughtered and cast out by their pride and ignorance as if we were a stain to be washed away and forgotten.
Then deceit came from within our very ranks. The titans arrived, and appointed power hungry shamans to be our guides to restoring Charr glory. How could the Charr resist when these titans told us everything that we wanted to hear; take revenge on the humans, take back our lands and slaughter the humans who had slaughtered us. So we became tools, the fuel of their ambition, and even did so willingly. It is interesting that these titans were symbolized by fire, for that is what the Charr became, consuming and destroying wherever we spread. Their guise could only hold up for so long before the Charr would cast them aside; but lead by those fools we once revered as shamans one false god would be replaced by another until the Charr revolted against them.
Now the Charr worship no gods. These gods have brought us nothing but war, pain, and death. We have meant nothing to any of these “gods” so why should they mean anything to us. Be now are we really free….. No we are slaves still. Slaves to our very selves and our own desires; to hate, to revenge, to power.
I am Avissi Acies, engineer of the Iron Legion, and I seek what the Charr have lost; truth and light within a dark, cold, dying, and war torn world. I stand now at the gates of Lion’s Arch; my heart yearning for the truth that has evaded me for so long, a heart broken for my people who have numbed themselves to the idea that something greater than this cruel existence could ever really care about them. If there is such a truth out there then perhaps I can find it here.

re: a small offer....

Sir ... Great sir .. down here .. yes its me. Im BoemKint Kleinies of the Asura, If you sit and wait awhile i will introduce you to my wife : Geeli Kleinies.
We are undertaking a long and dangerous trek across the land in search of an ancient manuscript sayd to contain records of a great Truth. See .. we are just small creatures and we need a bit of protection from bandits, centaurs and other nasties. Although we am quite skilled in travelling in secret and not stirring up too much trouble it could never hurt to have a huge engineer like you around. So what do you say? You can share in our supplies and conversation on this long journey while we will take comfort knowing that there is someone around in a time of need. Join us great Sir, and you might find that Truth that you are so sorely craving.

re: A World in Flux (GW2 RP)

Avissi stared down curiously at the small fellows beside him. He had met very few Asura in his short time in Lions Arch, but those he had met seemed to carry around an air of self importance. This particular Asura seemed quite pleasant tho, and having spend the last few weeks working in the city furnaces to provide for himself, the offer was quite tempting. After some careful thought he crouched down to look the Ausura in the eye.

"Very well friend, where are we heading?"

re: A World in Flux (GW2 RP)

Even before Kieryn awoke from the Dream, the world revealed itself to be a highly confusing place.

…Live life well, and fully, and waste nothing…
…Do not fear difficulty, hard ground makes strong roots…
…The only lasting peace is the peace within your soul…
…All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed…
…Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow…
…Act with wisdom, but act…
…From the smallest blade of grass to the largest mountain, where life goes- so too, should you…

Deeply entwined in the Dream, in amongst the basic knowledge of life in Tyria and the scattered memories of other sylvari, were the tenets of the Ventari Tablet. Inscribed by the peaceful centaur Ventari, the Pale Tree celebrated the tablet as the ultimate standard for morality and ethics. Yet even while the Dream echoed these thoughts through Kieryn’s mind, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. The tablet birthed more questions than it answered. Among them:

“Live life well.” Yet how does one live life well?
“The only lasting peace is the peace within your soul.” Yet how does one acquire this peace?
“All things have a right to grow.” Yet what gives them this right?
“Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow.” Yet what makes “a wrong” wrong?

The morality described by the Tablet seemed shallow and superficial somehow, as if missing a crucial element. How could the words of a mortal centaur define morality for the sylvari?

Upon awakening, Kieryn attempted the share his questions with his fellow sylvari. Rather than the answers he was hoping to find, he was met with hostility whenever he pressed these issues. They called him part of the Nightmare Court for questioning the tablet.

Yet Kieryn knew that he was nothing like the Nightmare Court. He had seen their deeds in the Dream: cruel, vicious, and corrupt; the Court sought to overthrow the Tablet out of a perverse wish to succumb to their basest desires. He was certain that the subconscious feelings he had experienced in the Dream were not the discord and chaos of the Nightmare. Rather, they bespoke of a missing purpose, as of yet unfulfilled and undiscovered. Rather than cast aside the Tablet and abandon all morality, Kieryn desired to transcend the superficial Tablet and find a deeper morality. This left him only one course of action…

Pausing a few feet from the swirling energy of the Asura gate, Kieryn turned and surveyed the Grove while he allowed himself one last moment to consider his decision. The other sylvari had proven utterly useless in providing him with the answers he sought. Even his one conversation with the Pale Tree had been a genuine waste of time. Utterly relentless, more unanswerable questions once again emerged to swirl through his head, disrupting his thoughts: if the Pale Tree birthed the sylvari, what created the Pale tree? What exactly is the Dream, and what started it? Why do the sylvari share the appearance of humans?

It was questions such as these that led Kieryn, less than two months old, to consider journeying far beyond the confines of the Grove. Despite the fact the he was leaving his entire world behind, he felt it would be impossible to remain. His burning desire for truth, discovery, clarity, and purpose was more important to him than the picturesque Grove.

His longbow strung over his shoulder, his one trusted companion at his side—an incredibly loyal fern hound named Jym—and excitement in his heart, Kieryn stepped into the Asura gate. For a brief moment, utter panic gripped him as stifling darkness surrounded him and his empathetic connection to his fellow sylvari was stripped away. Then he emerged into the sunlight and beheld for the first time (in person) the majestic city of Lion’s Arch. His destiny was waiting…
