Oh very nice!
Some New Republic era movies? Maybe the forming of the New Republic? Or maybe something completely different from the EU stuff.

Seriously? My thoughts were more like http://nooooooooooooooo.com/
Churning out a new Star Wars film every 2 or 3 years? And by Disney? Yeah... its gonna be terrible. I mean... think Jar-Jar, and multiply!
Jar jar was a George Lucas idea. Now that he's out of the picture I see it being more like a Avenger style movie which made a zillion dollars and was the best action movie I saw all summer.

Hehe, well... a fair point perhaps.
They could do New Republic Era stuff... They would never be able to persuade Mr Hamil to return as an older luke though which is kind of a shame.

I heard this earlier in MWO and didn't believe it but I was shocked when I read this. I'm surprised Lucas sold out, but I think Disney has the tools and talent to make good SW movies. Pirates of the Carribean were good movies and Marvel's the Avengers was an excellent movie. As long as they stick with the lore and don't try anything new, we're good.
What I'm hoping for is a new SW MMO made by someone other than Bioware or Sony Online Entertainment... or Turbine, or Blizzard... How bout a SW MMO made by ArenaNet? I'd be happy with SWG2.
But I'm with Renic, more SW movies makes me happy.

woah, I just read that it will be episode 7, a continuation of Han/Luke/Leia. So does that mean those 3 will all be back on the silver screen?

I had to spend a half an hour searching the web earlier when I read about this just to ensure it wasn't some strange joke. It just seems so unlike Lucas. He is the essential control freak and for this happen, and to happen so suddenly, seems odd. A couple of my friends wondered if he is sick and pulling a Jobs. Whatever his state, I hope he at least gets to retire in peace and maybe us rabid Star Wars fans will give him some peace.
As for the new films...Crazy. Three sequels and then a treadmill of more films to follow indefinitely like the Bond franchise. As long as they're at least on the level of the Avengers movie, I'll be satisfied.

Yea the next three should be the long-awaited episodes 7, 8 and 9 which occur after 'Return of the Jedi', which was #6 in the series, which happens after the events in the Old Republic.
EDIT: Since there are two topics on this same subject, I merged Renic's topic into Varkon's topic since Varkon posted it one minute before Renic posted his and it's in the movies subforum

The problem with doing new republic content, is the dreaded prospect of recasting...:P I wonder how they are going to stay true to EU lore while not alienating the mainstream fans.

Yea I may be worried, but I will stick with it regardless if Darth Mickey takes center stage. After all, I stayed with Doctor Who this whole time even though I'm not to thrilled about the direction it's taken.
