Confidence in Christ
Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man Is possible with God.”
We are a society, a community, a people, so bound by control that we ourselves think we are able to do it all. When we get to a point to where we can’t do it, we strive to do it, but then we fail. When we fail, we shouldn’t worry or dwell on it because there is a greater force behind it all to help us through the situation. Luke 18:27 states, that with all that is impossible to us it is possible with God. Imagine that situation that we keep getting ourselves into and think that we can’t get out of it by our own means, it is at those times when we should remember to find solace in our savior, because he will sustain us, and once we do we are able to get through those types of situations. We start to find more and more confidence in knowing that He is in full control of our life as we are His vessels. Joshua 1:9 says it all, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” I think that verse is amazing, letting us know that we need to find confidence knowing that He is with us, NO MATTER where we go.

Humility over Anger
One of the things that we all have a problem with is anger.
*Quick side not for you all, I know that my church is doing a series on anger, but I was inspired to do a devotion on anger as well.*
Now anger is something that we all face, majority of the time we face it on a day to day basis. We all like to think that we don’t have an anger problem, just because we don’t have sudden outbursts, but it goes deeper than that. We tend to hold things in and don’t let it out for a very long time, we tend to let it fester inside and until we feel the necessity to let it out. Well I am here to let you know that is not the way to go about it. We are all called to love no matter the situation or the person. We are called to love even our enemies. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it it not easily angered, it keeps NO RECORD OF WRONGS. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” now one of the key words is that love is never angry and that it keeps no record of wrongs. I for one have a... More

Heart Work Out
I was at the gym today and one thing came to mind. Working out not only applies to working out our body but it goes as well to working out in the aspects of our Christian walk. We have to be really careful of what we put into our bodies. Just like when we work out our bodies we have to be careful what we put into it. We tend to put in several chemicals and additives that our bodies get used to and are honestly pretty bad. We tend to let our habits significantly take over. What am I getting at you ask? Well just like working out our body we have to work out our mind and heart. We come against so much spiritual “additives” that we forget about the basic. We need to be careful of what we put into our minds. But just as we work out our body to get into shape and lose weight, we have to work out our mind and heart by reading the Word and prayer which are the basics to our workout. Working out our walk allows us to get into shape for the battles ahead. The battles can be tiresome and can take a toll on us. As long as we stay in tune with our Father and come to Him about everything, He will help us through all the battles that we face. Working out our spiritual walk is a heart issue. We just can’t stand... More

Quiet Time
Its pretty simple when you get into the new year to start yourself off right. a Lot of people do it through exercise, some do it through other means. Well one way that i have grown to really start a year off right is the same way i like to start my mornings off, through my quiet time. I know I posted something in the similar fashion when i first started posting, but i was put on my heart to get a little more in depth. I remember talking about how in James 1:19 we should go before our father in stillness. “Quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” Well one thing that was really put upon my heart to do was read and do a devotion about talking with God. Its pretty amazing that this past year has flown by. One of the things that i have been doing is delving into the word. Im not just talking about chapters here and there like i used to but really reading up on the word, getting more of a sense of knowledge and self-reflection. One thing occurred to me, i am almost done with the year plan that i had started, only a couple more months and i will be done. So He put something upon my heart to continue to do. That is, delve into the word and get familiarized more with different aspects of growth... More

Sacrifice
When we think about today it brings warm wishes, family gatherings and all together fun and joy. There is nothing wrong with that. Even letting your kid believe that there is Santa, I for one believed he existed when I was a little kid. I remember the times wanting to stay up late to see if Santa would come down the chimney, but nope, I had to go to bed. Realizing the cookies were gone after waking up in the morning and realizing that there was a gift from Santa under the tree made my day that more enjoyable, it got me to think I really was a good boy the whole year. The truth behind the whole thing was yes I did believe in Santa, but I also knew who the reason for the season was, the reason that we have faith, hope, love, and every single gift that has been given to us. God gave his son to us. God become a mortal baby, which was vulnerable to every sickness, disease, and even temptation.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3: 16
You know that verse is a famous verse throughout the year, but do we take time to actually pay attention to it during this season, during the day of Christmas? Our Christmas... More

Fearful, Trip into the Past
You know I sit here at night going through some email. I have been putting off some of my devotions that I get in the mornings, don’t know why, I just do. I came across a couple and have realized that I haven’t really given my testimony. Two of the devotions that read coincide with one another when thinking about my testimony.
The Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you. ( Deuteronomy 7:12-13 )
That verse hit me and got me thinking about my testimony. I was raised in a Christian home. A GOD fearing home where both of my parents loved the Lord. Yeah I rebelled more than my brother did, and my parents and I like to think that it’s because my brother didn’t rebel at all. I came to know the Lord at a young age, rebelled a little bit when I was a young youth and even gave my youth pastor quite a bit of frustrations. I remember one year at a youth convention, it was believe it or not about the “end of days” video, which I remember scared A LOT of people. I was scared and thought what was I doing with my life, what was I doing? I remember running up to the altar when the call was made. I... More

Seasons
Seasons, we all go through seasons, wither they be a physical sense, meaning the time of year it may be or the trials that we face on a day to day basis. We all go through seasons, I myself have gone through so many season within the past few years that its hard to keep account. Just like how fall is comes letting us know that summer is over, that dry heat that the summer brings. Just like how dry and hot summer can be it can really reflect our lives, dry, heated, and temporary. Fall is the changing season, we all see it, from the leaves turning colors to the nips of coldness in the air and yes even the brief HEATED moments as well. Its all change, but just like how fall is a season of change, we too must go through a season of change. We must all be open to the changes that need to be made within us. I wouldn't be honest if i didn't say that i don't go through changes. We all still go through the seasons, but its through these seasons that we need to continue to hold on the our FAITH in our ABBA, its the dry and stormy and heated seasons that we need to cling to our ABBA for safety and strength. We cant do it alone, i for one know, and believe it or not i still try to do it. What i came to realize is that these... More

Rejuvenation
(11/15/12) You know its been a couple weeks since I have blogged. One of the reasons why is, it's something as much of a devotion for anyone that is willing to lend an ear. I have been asked by a good friend of mine when i would be doing another. Well here it is. It's 1 o'clock in the morning and I've felt compelled to just talk or divulge on a couple things. Rejuvenation, one of the many things that we has people tend to do in the morning is start by a nice cup of coffee, to being a new day rejuvenated by a bit of that caffeine rush that we all know and have grown accustomed to. Well i don't have any special kinds i have been drinking lately just the good ol' commercialized Yuban. Dark roast of course but. i have been experimenting with my own perfect brewer. Nice dark roast teaming with the excitement of the potency that, that first cup gives off in the morning. On the same note of rejuvenation. In the mornings what exactly do you do to be rejuvenated? Let Him rejuvenate you, your strength, Hope, peace, whatever is afflicting you. My main goal is not a cup of coffee, but starting the day right, thanking God not just for another day but the freedom he has given to all of us, not the freedom of choice... More

Thanksgiving
Today is a day where most of us get together with family and even friends to enjoy the makings of a thanksgiving dinner. A day where we can relax after a hectic morning of bringing things together so that our family can enjoy the time of fellowship and thanksgiving. Today is a day where we can be thankful for where we are and who we have in our life.
Today i just want to thank you all for taking time in reading my blogs. I appreciate you all for who you are, not for what you have done. I know in my life you have been some form of encouragement, wither it being a rebuke of love or a "finger" in the right direction. You have been there for me in some form. I thank you all. Even if some of you that read think that you havent been there, well you have been there for someone else.
As today goes on always remember that you are the person you are because of everything you have been through. You are here today for a reason and have surpassed odds that you may not have thought possible in the past. Take today, tomorrow, the next day to remember the trials that you have faced and remember who has carried you through it all. A friend of mine posted this today and it spoke to meI pray that you look and even listen to... More

Best Part of waking up
You know part of my routine in the morning is wake, spend time quietly with my Lord and father. Afterwards it's spending some more time reading the Word with a nice cup of coffee.
Coffee. Something I have grown to just be fond of. Ive been trying and experimenting with different roasts of coffee. One brand I have really grown fond of is called Bad JuJu, a medium roast coffee with a strong taste. But strength doesn't just end at the taste it gives you a pretty nice kick, in way of energy. If you are looking for a good cup of joe, go for bad juju I got it from the Cherry Bean in old town Salinas.
One of the things I have really been trying to implement in my life is Boldness with a capital B. Both in prayer and in speech. Being bold in How I pray and What I should pray for. Changing my whole approach to my own prayer life. Implementing knowledge gained with the word in such verses as James 1:19-20. Where we not only should remain still in anger and vocal. But through even our own prayer life. Being silent and listening to the direction He wants to take us. It shows humility when we just take time to just be silent in the very presence of our Lord and father.
This is my first of many blogs. I... More
