re: Star Trek: Discovery

After reading about the cast, the crew, and the characters, I didn't even bother with it. Their motives for reinventing the Klingons and comparing them to real-world political ideologies was extremely insulting. It was clear that they had limited knowledge about the previous shows. Just really ignorant people.

A while back I had my own idea for a new Star Trek series. It would take place after Enterprise, during the Earth-Romulan war. Imagine a Tom Clancy type story in the world of Star Trek. The focus would be on Section 31, the Tal-Shiar, and MACO. Each episode would focus on one of these three groups, eventually with all three of them converging somehow in the climax of the series. Maybe an interactive website that reveal clues about the future of the series in the form of Starfleet Intelligence reports, troop/ship movements, and planetary politics on both sides.

If all Christians would just unite to embargo shows that include this kind of content they'd likely quit adding it in. Surely there's still enough of us in America to make an impact in their ratings.

I havent seen it yet. I've watched 3 episodes now. Episode 3 was actually decent. Maybe a good sign?

I saw all 3 episodes it was not too bad the 3rd was the best of the group. I love syfy not a hardcore star trek but still love watching star trek in or out of the mode of course to a point (minus the worldly stuff). It seems ok to me. Plan to still watch it.

The technology gaps are killing me though. It is supposed to be in TOS timeline, not the Kelvin. While the communicator and phaser (to a degree) are similiar to TOS, that is about it. Yet they seem to have better technology in a time that is before Kirk and crew. But I agree, Star Trek is Star Trek. Trekkies gotta go with the flow! lol

re: Star Trek: Discovery

Just watched the third episode. The family has been watching it every week. I grew up with Voyager, and in my opinion, this new series doesn't hold a candle to it. But I love star trek, so I'm enjoying new content nonetheless

I really enjoyed Voyager, but TNG will always be my favorite. It's also worth going through the original, but it's definitely aged. I liked it though. As for discovery, the first episode was interesting, but alas was the only one available on tv. Been wondering if it's worth the subscription.

I had not heard that. So far, there is no such thing present on the show. I was upset that they did that in the Kelvin timeline; they went and made Sulu gay, married to another male and had a child. Smh.

Well, there are a lot of mixed feelings on this new show when I read comments about it on FB. Not sure it will make it past 2 seasons unless they get their act together. Then again, TNG was the worse Trek ever based on Season 1, but ended up winning the Trekkies over as the seasons progressed and they let Picard have a personality.

Let? After the first director left because the cast was too "rowdy", Patrick Stewart, who was known to be extremely uptight and professional, stepped up on an imaginary set hill and let loose a Julie Andrews song and from that point on he was the worst jokester on the set which might have had a great deal to do with the progression of Jean Luc in the story.

All I know is he sucked until he found a personality for the character.
